In September, the non-profit joint-stock company “Talap” held a course titled “Designing Lessons Using Scaffold Tools.” It was organized by Aigerim Suleimanovna Uzbanova, a computer science teacher at the Taldykorgan Higher Polytechnic College and an expert teacher, and Gulzhan Mukhtarovna Adilkhanova. The coursework was published in the national scientific and methodological journal “IT Uzdik Ustaz” on the topic “Efficient Use of Scaffold Tools in Computer Science.”
This article examines the application of Scaffold technology in computer science. It describes methods for supporting students step-by-step throughout the learning process and developing their independent learning skills.
Main idea:
- Creating a “zone of proximal development” for the student;
- Explaining complex information in an accessible and structured form;
- Gradually teaching the student to work independently.
Scaffolding Elements:
- Instruction and guidance – the teacher sets an example.
- Modeling and demonstration – visual demonstration of the task completion.
- Feedback and questions – questions that help the student understand the material.
- Reducing support – gradually bringing the student to independent work.
Scaffolding principles in computer science:
- Movement from simple to complex;
- Visual support (tables, diagrams, code examples);
- Learning from mistakes;
- Dialogical learning (“student-teacher-computer”);
- Give assignments in accordance with the students’ level of knowledge.
The conclusion explains the essence, purpose, and methods of using Scaffold technology to facilitate student learning in computer science. The focus is on developing students’ thinking, gradually teaching them to independently complete assignments, and effectively using visual aids.
